youtube embed code not working for me

  • I have spent the last 2 hours trying to embed a youtube video into my blog
    with the codes mentioned in the FAQ section. I cannot get anything to work.
    Is there a setting I am doing wrong? I have tried the codes below
    [youtube=http://youtube.com/w/?v=uzd40DhckiE]
    [youtube=watch?v=uzd40DhckiE]

    Feedback would be greatly appreciated. I am a noob at this stuff. Thx

  • Can we see where you are using it please?

    I have a feeling that, since your username doesn’t have a site attached to it, you’re hosted off of wordpress.com and using the WordPress software. If that’s correct, then you need to be discussing this over at their forums. It’s different software as you may have discovered since it’s not working for you.

    The plugin I use on my own site is called WP-ExtremeVideo. You can grab a hacked copy of it here which includes a link that allows downloading. Again, that’s if you’re hosted elsewhere.

    Good luck,
    -drmike

  • Unfortunately, these codes does not work.

    I have tried a lot with no sucess in IE7, FF2 and Opera9.

  • The code should work IF your blog is at WordPress.com. If you’re not, we can’t help you.
    Use [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzd40DhckiE]. I have put something like five YouTube videos in my blog in the last day or so, and that code works just fine.

    What is the error message you’re getting, or what happens when you try that code? Sometimes we get a white blank box on our blogs instead of the video, but that’s because your cache is full. Delete temporary internet files, do a restart, and it should work okay; this problem comes up when you have six or more videos per page, I find.

  • Maybe not putting two videos in the same post might help. I can’t even load your blog from here.

    Looks like your google video works fine. Not sure what’s up with your YouTube video but it’s not loading. Can you give us the code that you’re using for it. Right now, all we can do is guess to what you are doing.

  • Here is the code youtube offers:

    <object width=”425″ height=”350″> <param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/0s6D1_IkfiM”> </param> <embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/0s6D1_IkfiM” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”425″ height=”350″> </embed> </object>

    when i paste it in, either it reads as code or it disappears. I have successfully embedded youtube code, but i guess it was just luck.

    How do i use

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzd40DhckiE]

    in conjunction with my specific video?

  • Do not use the embed code that YouTube gives you.

    In the box just above the embed code is the URL. Copy that, and put it in the square brackets format [youtube=URL] as you see here:
    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/v/0s6D1_IkfiM]

    That is what you use at WordPress.com]

  • you have to click on CODE when making a new post^^

  • No, you don’t. Not with Youtube.

  • it works for me by clicking on code and inserting the code then xD

  • You do not need to use the Code editor to post YouTube videos.

  • I am having the same problem to post a youtube embed code. I’m using custom player feature, which provides me only the embed code. The url also does not work. Anyone can help me? My blog is hosted on wordpress.com and embed code is necessary to post my playlist.

    Any other suggestion? Host in another place?

    Thank you!

  • You can’t use any code provided by YouTube, especially the Playlist. The only thing you can post is a single video, and that’s using the instructions provided by WordPress (not the YouTube-provided embed code). If you wish to have the Playlist feature added, you may make a request through Support. Don’t expect it to be implemented anytime soon, though.

    If you host your own blog somewhere else, such as at GoDaddy.com, then obviously you can use whatever embed code sites provide. Here at WordPress.com, we cannot use any code that includes SCRIPT, OBJECT or EMBED due to potential security problems.

  • I’m working with playlist @ my website. Music, Advertising, sports. Always using youtube custom player. The result is perfect, but still have to post on blogger. check it on http://www.virouviral.com.br Thank you!

  • If you are not a WordPress.com blogger, you are in completely the wrong place.

    Do not use the embed code that YouTube gives you.

    In the box just above the embed code is the URL. Copy that, and put it in the square brackets format [youtube=URL] as you see here:
    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/v/0s6D1_IkfiM]

    That is what you use at WordPress.com

    If you’re just trawling for views for your “viral” site, don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.

  • I can get YT videos to embed on my blog, however I’ve noticed over the last two months that in my RSS feed (I’m using Google Reader picking up my Feedburner feed), that videos are no longer embedding. Instead, a thumbnail is shown instead. I’ve seen this happen to a friend who’s also on WordPress.com

    This hasn’t affected my Blogger or TypePad friends who also use Feedburner.

    Does anybody know anything about this, or how to resolve?
    Thanks.

  • I never noticed that, but is does do that with Google Reader. Does anyone else see this with any other readers?

  • Thank you RainCoaster, but you should read all comments first before write stupid things. Custom Players does not have url address available, only embed. But it seems that you don’t have any idea what I’m talking about. So get us free of your useless comments next time please.
